What does isolation mean to us? How do we feel about it once it’s imposed?

Anna Radchenko, photographer and director based in London, explores the concept of isolation through a series of fashion inspired photographs. Trapped inside glass boxes, the model mirrors what living alone during a lockdown looks like. Radchenko reflects on how homes, usually perceived as safe havens, tends to close in on us right now. As we spend more time at home, we can feel claustrophobic, imprisoned, alienated and powerless. Our freedom and world is confined to the four walls we live in.

“Although these photos were shot before the lockdown, it resonates with what we’ve been feeling off late. Much of what we’d taken for granted: freedom to leave our homes, go to work and meet people has been replaced by a growing feeling of uncertainty and confinement,” says  Radchenko, “We find ourselves in an alternate reality, one in which we have to change our habits as we suddenly find ourselves devoid of physical human interactions.”
